Weddings & Elopements

Approach

I am a lover of movies, cinematography and nature and wanted my art to reflect that. I want you to have memories that are also art that you want to showcase on your walls. My style is all about telling the story of your day through images while also thinking about the lighting and composition. I try to capture every moment in a natural, hands-off way (with the occasional bit of direction). Your wedding day won’t feel like a stressful, rushed, all-day photoshoot. It’s about just being yourselves and having all of the beautiful emotional moments from your day photographed. I believe that the day you get married should be about the two of you and every couple has a unique story to tell. My job is to help you have the most amazing experience while getting some incredible photos and memories along the way.

What you get when you book with me

Customized Location Ideas: We are so fortunate here to have so many incredible places that could work as a backdrop for your photos. After discussing all your thoughts and ideas, I will send you a customized, highly-curated list of the best locations that would fit your day. I am a big fan of hiking. And have over 20 years experience finding hidden gems across the island.

Not able to hike? There are so many accessible areas with breathtaking views around St. John’s and across Newfoundland that don’t require much walking.

Looking for something indoors? We are so lucky here to have a mix of so many historic and modern buildings that can suit your vision.

Image delivery faster than the industry standard: I take on a limited amount of clients each year so that I am able to give a you your images within a short time frame after your wedding. I am so excited about your photos and I want you to be excited too. I share sneak peeks within 48 hours and your final gallery is delivered within 4-9 weeks after your wedding or elopement.

Film and Digital: I offer both film + digital photos as a part of my packages. Why film? I love how unpredictable film can be. While I love digital and the freedom it comes with, film makes me step back and slow down and photograph things in a much different way.

Local vendor suggestions + Unique activity Ideas: Want to elope at the top of Gros Morne? or maybe have a quite, early morning brunch elopement? Whatever it is you love to do, we’ll create an experience that reflects your uniqueness. Once you’ve narrowed in on a spot, I’ll share a curated list of go-to vendors who can help elevate your day even further: local florists, hair & makeup artists and venues are all on the list. My goal is to make my clients feel as safe and comfortable as possible so the list features businesses who are LGBTQ+ friendly.

Timeline/planning assistance: I’ll use my nine years of expertise to assist in creating a timeline that ensures that you are at the spots you love at the best times of day for lighting, seclusion, & weather.

Start off by sending me a message through my contact page. From there we can meet up for coffee or video chat to get to know each other a bit better. Once you decide to book, I require a retainer fee and provide you with a contract and invoice that can be signed online.

After you are all booked in, I am available for any questions you have regarding the wedding timeline and can offer vendor suggestions.   I want to make sure your wedding day is as relaxed as possible.

Do you travel?

Yes! Even though I am based in St. John’s, Newfoundland – I love to travel and will go anywhere around the island and across Canada.

Do you have a full gallery of a wedding?

Head to my galleries page to view photos from the beginning to the end of a wedding day. It also features elopements, intimate and large weddings.

How you photographed many weddings?

I started photographing weddings in 2015 when I was living in Red Deer, Alberta. My first few years were part time where I would only take up to ten per year. But over the last few years I have been taking between 20-30 each year. I’ve been so lucky to have photographed so many incredibly beautiful love stories.

When will we receive our images?

I will send a few sneak peeks within a week after your wedding that you can share with your family and friends. Your full gallery will take four to twelve weeks to edit and then you will receive your high-resolution images through an online gallery.

How many photos do we get?

On average you get between 30 to 50 images per hour.

Can you be a witness to our elopement?

I sure can! I have signed as a witness at many elopements. You just need to have one other person to sign as the second witness.

Do you offer albums and prints?

You can add albums and prints to your package at an additional cost.

What is your shooting style?

My style is all about capturing candid moments as they unfold. I try to blend in the background as much as I can so that everyone can relax and just enjoy the day without focusing on having their picture taken. I do very minimal posing, mainly just during the family and wedding party portraits.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Honestly? It will make for great photos. Some of my favorite photos were taken on a day filled with rain, drizzle and fog. I’m also an expert at pivoting plans last minute. If we plan to hike to the top of a mountain and it’s a rainstorm, we’ll find you a STUNNING forest nearby to say your vows. Is there a hurricane in the forecast? I’ve got two back-up plans that would be just as amazing as the original spot. Whatever Mother Nature throws at us, I’ll be ready!

What kind of equipment do you use and how do you protect our images?

I try to shoot with a minimal amount of equipment so I can blend into the background easier. I use the Canon 5D Mark IV and Mark III during your wedding. Both cameras have dual card slots to allow me to have the images immediately backed up. As well I have an additional backup camera and various lenses to help capture your day. I shoot with natural light the majority of the time but use flash when necessary.

Once I get home from your wedding I immediately upload your photos to my computer as well as onto an external hard drive. I also have additional online backup.
