Dory Engagement Photos In Newfoundland

Couple watching seagull while driving a boat in conception bay

Romantic foggy session on a boat in Conception Bay

When C reached out and asked if we could do their engagement session on a boat, my immediate reaction was YES! I love being on the water and am up for any adventure (except maybe jumping out of a plane lol). They wanted to go somewhere with incredible views and that would be a good for sunrise. I recommended Portugal Cove. It is one of my favorite views around the city from the water. And I figured it wouldn’t be too busy that time of day.

They were visiting from Alberta and we only had a small window of time to move around in case the weather didn’t work out. The goal was to head out at sunrise for some golden hour photos on the dory her dad made. The original date of the photos we had a ton of rain so decided to reschedule to the only other day that week without much rain. I always tell clients not to check the weather too much before your session - because it can change so many times. The night before the shoot, it was showing a mix of sun with some clouds. Her dad said it looked like it would be a calm morning on the water so we decided to meet up for five am at the boat launch.

When we got there the water was so calm and the fog was heavy. I was worried it would be too foggy but as soon as we started going it lifted a little and left the most magical bit rolling over the hills. We spent the morning exploring the cliffs around Conception Bay, watched some whales and took a few photos along the way.

It was such a fun adventure! And I love how the photos came out.
