Tablelands Elopement in Gros Morne
Romantic Gros Morne Elopement on Newfoundland’s West Coast
From S+J’s first email, I knew their elopement was going to be magical. They reached out to see if I was available for their adventurous elopement in Gros Morne and from their description, I knew it was exactly my style. They wanted a day full of adventures that the two of them would enjoy. There are so many options for things to do during your elopement. We talked about a sunrise kayak, fishing for cod and a few other adventures. In the end, they ended up planning for a sunset boat ride and picnic.
Planning anything outdoors in Newfoundland is a gamble. You don’t come to this province for the weather and should always plan for the possibility of rain. The day of their elopement arrived and there was a severe thunderstorm warning for the evening. They decided last minute to switch up their plans and do the boat ride and picnic first to avoid the storm. We started out in their air bnb where their got ready together with their two pups. Then we headed out with Wild Gros Morne for a zodiac ride around bonne bay. It was my first time seeing Woody Point from the ocean and it was such a magical experience. We stopped at a private beach and hopped out of the boat where they shared a yummy picnic lunch. As we were heading back to the boat dock the sky darkened and just as we pulled up it started to pour. We decided to still try for an outdoor ceremony in hopes that the weather would change and thankfully as we arrived to the spot the storm passed over and we watched it in the distance as they said their vows.
Gros Morne is so beautiful and has so many spots for photos. We hiked around Trout River and the tablelands before they headed back to their spot to share some cake and a first dance.
It was such a beautiful, intentional day. And I am so glad I got to be a part of it.
Their photos are a mix of film and digital.
